It’s that In-between season again where everything kinda slows down and my calendar gets a little bit quieter. Not so many corporate gigs that rake in the cash but slower events that sustain me like singing for the seniors in Miami. 

These are the times where I remind myself that it isn’t a failure, but the territory of being self-employed. Moreover, I have options that I can exercise if I need a buffer for these times. The same lessons my vocal coach impresses upon me to prepare and not be overtaken by these times. It’s all in the planning.

🧠 Mental Health Check In 

I’m back in school and I’m already feeling the anxiety even though it’s week one! LOL! Send HELP! 

Seriously though, I came across a concept that resonated with me. 

Have you ever heard of implicit bias? I related it to how I view certain music genre. It’s where you may not realize you have certain beliefs or biases towards a certain thing, place, event or people and it takes some real reflection to even become conscious of it! I realized I carried this with some of the new music 😳. Since I grew up on the 90s and that music resonates so well, I just can’t seem to connect with a lot of the music now. Anybody else feel this way? 

I had to reflect and concluded to myself that not because I don’t connect with it makes it any less valuable to the generation now. I gotta give some grace. I discovered some new artists that I’ve been listening to lately…
